Dental Veneer FAQ

What is a dental veneer?

A dental veneer is a thin shell of porcelain or composite resin that is bonded to the front of teeth to fix chips, gaps, stains, or minor alignment issues.

What type of veneers do you offer?

Traditional porcelain veneers are completed at our office. Porcelain veneers require removing a thin layer of enamel for a durable, stain-resistant fit.

How long do veneers last?

The expected lifespan of porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15+ years but is highly dependent on the care you take to maintain your teeth and your daily habits.

Is the procedure reversible?

Traditional porcelain veneers are permanent and irreversible because a thin layer of natural tooth enamel must be removed to fit the shell of porcelain.

How much do veneers cost?

Costs vary but, generally, the cost of a porcelain veneer is $1200+ per tooth. Dental insurance does not cover veneers because they are classified as an elective cosmetic procedure.

Am I a good candidate for veneers?

You need healthy gums and sufficient enamel. If you have severe bruxism (teeth grinding) or untreated cavities, those must be fixed first, and you will likely need to wear a nightguard to protect your veneers.

How do I care for my veneers?

Brush and floss your teeth normally paying special attention to the gumline. Avoid eating extremely hard, sticky, or chewy foods (like ice or hard candy) that can crack or dislodge the restoration. Chewing pens and hard shells/nuts should also be avoided.
